Here’s the dream I always get when I have an episode of sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis is one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had.
And it’s always the same dream every time I’ve gone through it.
The dream always starts with me and my dad driving through a forest on a rainy night for a camping trip. We always find a dark, eerie cave that we drive into and park at as we wait for the rain to stop.
But after a couple of minutes of waiting in the cave, my body gets stuck.
I can’t move a single limb except for my neck. It always feels like I was bitten by an insect that injected me with a large dose of its paralyzing venom.
And here’s the most disturbing part of the dream: I always turn my head to see a dark being -usually a woman that looks like the girl from The Ring but wearing all black- slowly peeling and eating my dad’s skin.
I try to scream for help but can’t. I try to help him but I’m paralyzed.
After the dark being notices me trying to fight the paralysis, she crawls over straddles me and starts peeling my skin.
I try to fight her off but I’m stuck in this position; I have no muscle control.
And as soon as she starts to consume my skin, I’m able to wiggle my body and I wake up sweaty and breathing heavily.
When I initially got these dreams, I didn’t know why or even what it was.
But after a few times of this unpleasant experience, I decided to research it and found out that I was experiencing sleep paralysis.
I didn’t do in-depth research on it, so I still don’t know exactly why I get them or how it happens or what my body is experiencing for paralysis to happen (though I haven’t gotten an episode in years *knock on hardwood).
All I found out was that I was experiencing sleep paralysis.
But I did talk to one of my cousins a couple of years ago about it and he said that it happens to him when he’s exhausted and sleeps in a certain position.
I’m not sure if that’s what was happening to me. It could be.
Or maybe I was just being haunted by the ghost of a person that I deeply offended. Or maybe a demon is just playing a cruel joke on me for whatever reason.
I don’t know.
